Laissez les bons temp rouler

Happy Fat Tuesday for all the Mardi Gras and Carnival revelers around the world.  Mardi Gras is one of the most multicultural events around the world since Carnival and Fat Tuesday is celebrated in several cities and countries including New Orleans, Rio De Janeiro in Brazil, Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago, Quebec City in Canada and Sinaloa in Mexico.

Different countries celebrate in different ways but the celebration is based on The Epiphany, Ash Wednesday and beginning of the Lent season.  All the thoughts of New Orleans and the French Quarter reminded me of the Mardi Gras themed bridal shower I threw my best friend when she got married.   What were the key ingredients might you ask?

We put beads around the ladies’ necks when they arrived, the menu included New Orleans favorites such as Gumbo and Jambalaya.  Hurricanes were the specialty drink and for dessert we had a regular cake and a King Cake which was sent from our good girlfriend in New Orleans.  And when all the ladies left their gift was a small bag of chocolate doubloons.

We had sooo much fun, the food was fabulous and the Hurricanes were such a hit.  I even dressed in the Mardi Gras colors of purple, green and gold to get into the mood.

Just a fun idea so you can make any bridal shower day a Fat Tuesday!!!
